“You, Rose Tyler, are a minx,” John said, trailing kisses up her jaw towards her ear. After being unceremoniously kicked off the ice after their performance, John had been very eager to get Rose all to himself. He still had no idea how he had made it through all of the interviews, let alone being on international telly without thoroughly embarrassing the UK.

“You call me a minx, yet you’re the one who hasn’t been able to keep your hands off of me,” Rose said breathily as she tugged at his hair.

“Can you blame me?” His teeth grazed the soft skin of her earlobe.

Rose gasped. “For pushing me against the wall the moment we were backstage? Absolutely not. That was lovely.”

It had been more than lovely. It had been incredibly sexy.

They had both still been in full costume. Her hands had been buried in his hair, his had clutched her hips. The kiss on the ice had been bloody amazing, but it had been cut too short by Olympic officials threatening to disqualify them. So John had taken the first opportunity he had to press his body into hers backstage, in what he hoped was a hidden alcove. He’d traced his tongue along the seam of her lips, seeking permission to deepen the kiss. With a soft moan, Rose had yielded.

He had taken his time exploring her mouth. Their tongues had occasionally battled for dominance, each of them letting the other win momentarily, only to begin the skirmish anew a few seconds later. One of John’s hands had skittered up Rose’s ribs seeking her breast, and just as he had been about to reach the prize someone had interrupted them.

Pain, that was Rose’s first thought. She was in pain and everything was white which was almost a comfort compared to the darkness that haunted her nightmares. She tried to sit up but found her wrists bound to bed rails. She looked around blearily and saw Jackie sitting nearby. She looked up at Rose, put down her magazine and walked over to her.

“There you are,” Jackie said softly, smiling down at her. “We were so worried, sweetheart. The doctors say you were so lucky that the blast just hit your shoulder. You could have died,” Jackie told her, her voice catching.

“What?” Rose asked and tried to lift her hand but couldn’t. She stared at the wrist straps.

Chapt 1

Rose was walking to her office in Torchwood when she saw what she’d been expecting to happen. The Doctor was leaning against a wall having an intimate conversation with Dr. Livonia Marks. Anyone could see the way Livonia rested her hand on his arm and coquettishly laughed that they were flirting. Livonia was beautiful, blonde, intelligent and had a thirst for knowledge. She was just his type and Rose knew this. Most people would think this would cut Rose to the core considering all she had done to get back to him but it didn’t. Rose was just waiting on him to leave her and it was killing her. She had never believed he would stay. It had been three weeks since Bad Wolf Bay and it was three weeks of Rose trying to grasp what had happened, of trying to process all that she did and survived in her dimension jumps and of the emotional and physical toll on her. She never complained and tried to do what she’d always done, tucked all the hurt deep inside and do what had to be done to survive to take care of others.

SIX MONTHS LATER

The Doctor and Rose found themselves back in Gallifrey although under quite different circumstances. Rose reflected back on how much her life had changed as she dressed to attend Amy and Rory’s wedding.

After her return to London, life had been a whirlwind for Rose but in a good way. With the help of the Doctor, Jack and Chronos, she made it past the media frenzy; the questions and legal inquiries about the Master’s activities; and focused on salvaging her career. Of course, she also spent time reconnecting with her Mum and enjoying London and the freedom to shop, go for walks and stop by her favorite chippy without having to ask anyone or being forced to adhere to a strict schedule. She took her time making decisions about her career and giving Chronos a chance to work the media to restore her reputation. She wasn’t going to rush into anything.
